Join us to explore how blockchain and other distributed ledger technologies (DLT) can contribute to a more transparent, sustainable, and inclusive future. On September 17th, the DLT4EU consortium will host an online public launch event and panel discussion.
Distributed ledger technologies can play an important role in solving critical, real-world challenges faced by public organisations across Europe. At the core of the DLT4EU program – of which Metabolic Institute is a key partner – is the aim to drive innovation in the public sector for these technologies, so they can be used for the public good.
To mark the official launch of the program, the DLT4EU consortium is hosting a panel discussion titled “Potential roles and pitfalls of DLTs in supporting public good initiatives across Europe”. Register to join us for free on September 17th from 18.00 – 20.00 (CET).
The panel consists of:
- Indy Johar, Dark Matter Labs
- Piret Tõnurist, Innovation Lead at OECD
- Ludovic Courcelas, Government Strategy Lead at ConsenSys and Leading the EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum.
The session wil be facilitated by Alexandre Pólvora, Policy Analyst at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre.
After the panel discussion, the DLT4EU Venture Teams will carry out a Challenges Pitch Session to share details about the projects that have joined the six-month accelerator program. They are:
- Collaborative E-waste management by the City of Sant Boi, addressed by the Spanish initiative Ereuse to promote a circular consumption model for electronic equipment, extending its life cycle and value, and promoting reutilisation.
- Track and Trace: Supply Chain Transparency by UNDP & AltFinLab, addressed by convergence to develop an infrastructure for a track-and-trace solution to be piloted with the use case of food, medical supplies or textiles.
- Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Energy Solutions by UNDP & AltFinLab addressed by the Italian foundation Prosume to develop an infrastructure that enables asset trading within communities and/or cooperatives, of utilities – such as off-grid renewable energy markets.
- Digital Impact Coins by UNDP & AltFinLab addressed by the university spin-off Acren to enable new types of innovative investment in Community projects.
- Citizen-Powered Circular Textiles Sector by the Amsterdam CTO addressed by the Spanish cooperative DisCo to change the way textile waste is collected, treated and re-processed and allowing new uses in the city of Amsterdam.
- Data Sovereignty for all Citizens by the City of Helsingborg Municipality addressed by the Irish company AID:Tech to help citizens become the owners of their personal data generated by public administration, using predictive data models to improve public service provision.
- Charitable Aid Accountability for Humanitarian Agencies by the Red Cross and Digital Future Society addressed by the British platform Alice.si to help facing barriers with the reporting, verification, and accountability processes, improving transparency and accountability within public service provision and humanitarian development activities.
- Shared E-Mobility by The Greater London Authority addressed by the Dutch platform CiSe to use DLT/blockchain to improve the way multiple European cities can provide common digital infrastructure on e-mobility.
