Alex is a junior consultant for the Agrifood and Biodiversity team, with a passion for global food systems research. She holds a BSc in International Relations from Leiden University and an MSc in Environment and Resource Management, with a specialization in Global Food Systems from VU Amsterdam. In her research she has focused on gendered impacts of climate change, bringing an intersectional lens to her work.

Growing up between the Welsh coast and the lakes and mountains of Southern Germany, nature has always been where Alex felt most at home. As a child she dreamt of becoming a farmer, but during her studies decided that her energy would be best invested in supporting farmers and companies in their transition to more sustainable production methods. Now she happily does this in her daily work at Metabolic.

Alex likes to spend her free time outdoors, either hiking, sailing, or simply reading a book in the sunshine.
